Are You Drinking Candy?
I’ve heard it said that pop and juice and other drinks like that are basically candy in a glass. It's so true!

Are these drinks you see here something you would typically drink? These are a definite no no if you want to get healthy. These drinks are all full of sugar. I’ve heard it said that pop and juice and other drinks like that are basically candy in a glass. It’s so true! We are so addicted to sugar that we don’t even realize how much we’re consuming in everything.
Take a look at the numbers for these drinks:
*Green tea - 51g of sugar per 23.5 oz can
*Frappuccino - 31g of sugar per 9.5 oz bottle
*Mountain Dew - 76g of sugar per 20 oz bottle
*Cranberry grape juice - 48g of sugar per 12 oz bottle
That is a LOT of sugar!! If you are living a low-carb lifestyles and trying to stay under 20-50g of carbs a day (which is the range most people choose), you’ve exceeded your daily carb limit with one drink.
This is why it’s so important to read labels.
Instead of indulging in these types of drinks, try to mostly drink water. Unsweetened drinks like ice tea or flavored sparkling water can be good as well. Coffee or tea - unsweetened of course - are also great if you prefer a hot beverage.
If you’re not used to drinking water you may find it challenging to drink just plain water but the more you do it the more it tastes good and the more you clean your palate so your body isn’t expecting sugary drinks. To help you with the transition you can always add lemon or lime to your water or you could buy water enhancers like Mio to add flavor to your drinks.
Sugar is addictive - no question about it. And the sooner you eliminate sugar from your diet the easier it is to live without it.
